JUNE 2011 WEEK 3 STAR OF THE WEEK-1948 CADILLAC STEALS THE SHOW This was a great week for Stars of the Day,consequently the decision for Star of the Week wasn’t easy to make. This really came down to one word-“cool”. There is nothing cooler than a gold colored, extremely rare 1948 Caddy.This car will be a future story, but suffice to say, it stood out at a very good car show. That made it stand out at MSCC. JUNE 18 STAR OF THE DAY-1939 CHEVROLET FAMILY LEGACY WITH A BIG BLOCK
This car was no exception-it was a big block 1939 Chevy but the most outstanding feature of this car was its family legacy. This street machine was passed down from father to son and it remains as a memorial to a true car guy. That easily qualifies this Chevy for Star of the Day. js
JUNE 17 STAR OF THE DAY-THE PLANET’S NICEST DATSUN 510
They never were stars by definition but these Datsun 510s were in the first wave of the 1970s Japanese invasion. They weren’t stylish but they were tough and nearly bulletproof-with the exception of winter weather on their sheel metal. This 510 is a mint example, 17,000 miles plus the little Datsun has spent its whole life in a forgiving dry climate. So…as a salute to its long departed brothers, this Datsun 501 is the Star of the Day. js
JUNE 16 STAR OF THE DAY:1960 CHEVROLET LIMO-SEND IN THE CLOWNS
You don’t see many 60 Chevys these days…Bob Seger’s “Night Moves” Car of Choice but you see even fewer 60 Chevy limos. Even rarer are brightly colored Shriner 60 Chevy limos but when you have to move 10 to 12 guys in baggy suits with size 50 shoes-you going to need the extra room. Star of the Day…the classiest clown mover on earth. js
JUNE 15 STAR OF THE DAY:1948 CADILLAC-THE ADVENT OF 1950s OPTIMISM
This is where the 50s styling began-with fins like this. It was a nod towards better times. The war had been over for a few years, jobs were plentiful and this little styling cue pointed the way towards the modern, optimistic confidence era found in the 1950s. It was long overdue… js
JUNE 14 STAR OF THE DAY-A BIG BLOCK CUDA DOES A SMOKE SHOW
The Star of the Day is all about gut reaction…or gut slamming action. In this case the gut reaction is simple-a 440 Cuda lighting up the tires just seems right. js
JUNE 13 STAR OF THE DAY:1956 FORD- CLASSIC CAR…CLASSIC STORY
This 56 Ford was at an all-Ford meet last year. It wasn’t hard to spot this beauty across a large parking lot because it stood out like a neon sign. The best part was the “story behind the car”- the theme at mystarcollectorcar.com. This was a family car and eventually it became a father-son project that unfortunately turned into a tribute project to the late father. The 56 Victoria looked great under close examination…a great legacy to a car guy. The essence of the old car hobby… js
