JUNE 12 STAR OF THE WEEK-A FINAL SALUTE TO A MODEL T LEGEND | |
JUNE 12 STAR OF THE WEEK-A FINAL SALUTE TO A MODEL T LEGEND There were some great Stars of the Day this week but in the end, this picture said it all…a farewell to a Model T brother. Emile Hermary was a legend in the world of Model Ts and this procession spoke volumes about the respect he had earned with his peers. Many thanks to Randy Fiedler and the Red Deer Advocate for this photo. js
JUNE 11 STAR OF THE DAY – A CLASSIC ON THE BRINK OF OBLIVION There’s no fixed pattern to the Star of the Day feature. In fact,it’s much more of a gut reaction to any given picture… This one was easy because the subject is a forlon 1959 Cadillac hanging by a thread. In this case “the Calvary came over the hill” to rescue this Caddy.A 57 Chevy guy named Trevor Comfort saved this legendary 1950s icon from extinction. It’s a tie for Star of the Day between the Cadillac and its new owner. js
JUNE 10 STAR OF THE DAY-FUNERAL FOR A MODEL T FRIEND
These Model Ts were a salute to Emile Hermary-a legendary Model T guy who passed away recently. It was a fitting farewell to a man who was known as THE definitive local expert in these iconic cars…he’s our Star of the Day. Many thanks to Randy Fiedler and the Red Deer Advocate for this great shot. js
JUNE 9 2011 STAR OF THE DAY-STORM ROLLS IN BUT SHOW GOES ON… This is a scene that car guys fear-a car show starts in the sun then clouds like this roll in and the party is over. The show ended in a hail storm but nobody suffered any serious car casualties. But for today the star of the day is anybody who fights the threat of weather at car shows… js
JUNE 8 STAR OF THE DAY-CUJO DRIVES A 1975 DODGE CLUB CAB Actually, Cujo was a pretty friendly guy but he sure knows rare trucks-when was the last time you saw a mid-70s Dodge Club Cab in good shape? Good doggie js
JUNE 7 STAR OF THE DAY:1961 FORD GALAXIE-ANDY TAYLOR’S RIDE Actually Sheriff Andy Taylor of Mayberry never drove a 61 Ford that was this flashy but he did drive a 61 Ford. These cars are rare in 2011, but this red and white beauty stole the show in a parking lot full of bland cars and trucks. Nice car-even if Barney Fife never drove it… js
JUNE 6 STAR OF THE DAY: A BATTERED DATSUN
A Datsun car show featured this little mystery car. It was very unclear why the retro-Datsun was at the show without a sledge- hammer as an outlet for frustration and a charity to explain its presence. But the bigger mystery was the fact that I somehow missed the blonde hottie when I photographed the car. She was in perfect shape-even if my observational skills and the little Datsun were not in great shape. Jim S
JUNE 5 STAR OF THE DAY-AN OWNER’S VIEW OF A CLASSIC TRI-FIVE CHEVY These owners take their cars or trucks on some great road trips-that’s how they end up in some beautiful locations. This 56 doesn’t see many miles per year so this is a rare picture of it away from home The end result? A star is born… JS
