WEEK 2 (JIM)

HERBIE

It’s time to get past that “rolling the Beetle story”You cling to that one like it was Talladega Speedway and the crash happened at 200 mph .

Back to the cars-you have to look at loyalty. Loyalty to Herbie meant winning major road races and receiving all the fame and fortune that comes with victories on the track. The biggest mistake driver Dean Jones made was thinking that he, not Herbie was the key to victory. The only thing Herbie wanted besides loyalty was a little basic maintenance.

That and keeping the bad guys from spiking Herbie’s gas tank. Not big demands in my opinion.Christine wanted a lot more. Anything less than an absolute lifetime commitment to that evil 4- wheeled demon resulted in choking girlfriends, best friends with massive leg injuries and garage owners with caved in chest cavities.Herbie had a lot more style than that.

WEEK TWO (JERRY)

CHRISTINE

I noticed that Porsche wasn’t ringing your phone off the hook after that Bug crash. As for the cars…

A lot more style with Herbie the Sissy Bug?

How can you say a tin can with wheels beats anything style-related when something as classic as a 58 Fury is involved?By the way, that loyalty in Herbie wasn’t something you’d want to take to a gunfight at the OK Corral. He pouted like a little girl when Dean Jones brought home a new car then pounded the new rival into junk when Dean Jones’ back was turned.

After that he took off like a 5-year-old running away from home. Trust me Christine never left an owner in the dust.

Never.

Not only that, Herbie let himself get grabbed by the bad guys but not before racking up a ton of legal headaches for Dean Jones including a badly damaged Chinese market.Christine wouldn’t have been grabbed by the bad guys simply because Christine wouldn’t have left any breathing, fully functioning witnesses behind.

That’s loyalty.
