SOME GREAT MOTHER’S DAY CAR STORIES

The father-son connection streams through the car hobby because many of us were heavily influenced by our dads.

For example, MyStar did an owner’s story back in May 2024 about a 1971 Cuda with a deep connection to a family.

Mom’s first new car was a ’71 Cuda 340—a Holy Grail Mopar. She bought the car based on her high school son’s advice and it stayed in the family for decades. Her daughter ended up with the ‘Cuda, so she ended up bringing the car back to factory mint—a solid example of a mother-daughter-car connection.

There was another great Mom story back in May 2021 about a 1970 AMC Rebel Machine.

These cars are rare, but the story behind this ’70 Rebel is even more remarkable because Mom raced this car at local dragstrips. Eventually, her son went through a long and difficult process to save her legacy car. The best part—she was able to see the completed project in the later stages of her life.

MyStar found a 1969 ‘Cuda story back in May 2019.

In this case, the ’69 Formula S 340 was a tribute to Mom’s ’68 Road Runner from years in the past. His mom bought her brand new ’68 Road Runner and turned her son into a hardcore, lifetime Mopar muscle fan. His ’69 Barracuda was a natural consequence of mom’s cool factor back in 1968.

There was another great MyStar story in November 2015 about Mom’s 1974 Buick Century wagon.

In this case, Mom’s family wagon stayed in the family since new and her son ended up with the car when Mom got too old to drive. It was a stock long roof, but her son had a much different vision for Ma’s old kiddie-hauler. He turned it into a beast, but this Buick still has a Mom feel to it—if Mom’s wagon was a fire-breathing dragon.

There was a MyStar owner’s story about a 1960 Thunderbird back in February 2015 that also had a deep Mom connection.

This car was his mom’s birthday present because it was built the same year she was born. The T-bird went into hibernation for nearly a decade before her son rescued the car and put it back on the road. He was a young guy, but he knew the Square-bird had to be saved because of the deep connection to his mom.

The final tribute to Mother’s Day MyStar owner’s stories came back in May 2021 in the form of a 1966 Ford Fairlane GTA.

Mom bought this classic Ford muscle car brand new because she liked the look and the power. Her son grew up with this car and she gave it to him years later. He brought Mom’s car back to dealership mint as a tribute to her legacy. She did see the GTA in restored condition and she knew it went to the right person.
