MAY 2017 STARS OF THE SHOW: A LOOK BACK AT TEN YEARS OF THE RED DEER CRUISE NIGHT

Red Deer Cruise Night has been around in one form or another for decades but it really took off in the last 15 years.

This weekly show in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada has gained a reputation that extends right across the country plus it’s listed as a major tourist attraction for the province of Alberta.

Here’s a look back over the last ten years—you can see the evolution of the event over those years.

These pictures go back to 2007 when the show was confined to the small parking lot beside Prairie Office Machines.

The show moved across the street later that year to a bigger parking lot because of increased demand. This was September 2007.

They were firmly established in their new venue by May, 2008.

They extended the season into October that year.

Red Deer Cruise Night fired up again in May, 2009 in the same location.

IMGP4520

They had good turnouts for the whole Summer of 2009.

The support continued well into the fall that year.

Red Deer Cruise Night moved again in May, 2010 to a new location at the Parkland Mall in the Safeway parking lot because they needed the extra room.

They had to move again in mid-summer 2010 to the middle north parking lot at the Parkland Mall because the show took up too much of the Safeway parking lot.

The show continued well into the fall of 2010 and it wrapped up in October at the same location.

Red Deer Cruise Night returned in May, 2011 to the same location at the Parkland Mall north parking lot.

The show moved once again in mid-summer 2011 to the large parking lot in the northeast part of the mall because of increased demand. Basically, they needed more space once again.

They ended the season in October 2011.

IMGP0930

May, 2012 was the first Red Deer Cruise Night full season at the large parking lot and they had a great turnout on a nasty night for the first show,

IMGP1927

They had some big shows that year as they picked up momentum and the trend continued into the fall.

2013 was another massive year for Red Deer Cruise Night and they began–as usual in May.

IMGP0174

They ended in late October with good weather.

IMGP6339

The show came back to the big Parkland Mall parking lot in May, 2014 and continued through the summer with massive numbers.

IMGP7285IMGP0149

They ran their last show in October, 2014 after a big year.

IMGP3929

May, 2015 started at the Parkland Mall with less than spectacular weather.

IMGP5397

The show moved in June, 2015 to the other side of Highway 2 just off 32nd Street across the overpass on the west side of Red Deer. They took over the large Crossroads Church parking lot.

IMGP6840IMGP0238

They ran the shows until October, 2015 in the new venue.

IMGP8583

2016 was a rough year for the show because weather wreaked havoc on the Thursday night schedule but they had a good start in May.

IMGP4045IMGP8131

They’ve had some spectacular shows and they’re looking forward to another great season out at the Crossroads Church in 2017 — come out to one of Alberta’s best tourist attractions this year.
