The St. Albert Cruisers host one of the largest annual car shows in Canada every August.

They call it Rock n’ August for a reason because this car show takes over the community of St. Albert like an annual fair takes over a small town.

They do it with style because they have a week full of events for the entrants and the locals and it ends with a great car show.

The St. Albert Cruisers are like most car clubs because their number one mandate is to give back to the community and this club does give back in a big way.

This year they’re literally giving away a car to raise funds for the Alberta Diabetes Foundation. It’s a ’68 Mustang convertible and it’s valued at over $55,000.

There’s one reason why this Mustang hit that value—the combined efforts of a team of local car guys. Here’s the list of who was involved.

Major Sponsor and Idea GuyTodd Lesenko of St. Albert Fountain Tire. Lifetime member of St. Albert Cruisers and ultimate responsibility for making sure the car was available for raffle.

Build Team – Oversight of build led by Gary Poff, well known hot rodder and Cruiser club member who coordinated the actual build with Cruiser Car Club members. Over 800 hours of volunteer time to get car ready for raffle.

Brad FournierExecutive Director of Alberta Diabetes Foundation – raffle sponsor and recipient of all fundraising efforts of RNA

Brent Brodeur – President, Rock ‘N August – the group that organizes all aspects of week long RNA events including the Aug. 12 Show and Shine expected to draw close to 1000 cars this year.

The actual planners and sponsors of the event are the Rock ‘N August Executive. This group consists of a few key community service groups (Cosmopolitan Clubs, Eagles, the Chamber of Commerce, and representatives of Cruisers). We feel it is important that this group be recognized as the lead for the event while the Cruisers (rightly so) deserve a great deal of the credit for the build and also for many of the events throughout the week of RNA.

The community wins in a big way thanks to the efforts of the St Albert Cruisers and the RNA show so you can show your support and possibly win a very cool ride by following this link.
