MICHENER-ALLEN AUCTIONS FEATURE: 1968 FIREBIRD 400 AT THE 20th ANNUAL COLLECTOR CAR AUCTION JULY 27, 2019
The best way to celebrate the 51st birthday of a classic car is to tell its life story and this 1968 Pontiac 400 Firebird has a great biography.
It was originally a California car so this ‘bird started life in a friendly climate and that climate definitely preserved this classic Pontiac.
The California heritage is also found in the fold-down rear seat because you didn’t see this option north of the border in Canada and it’s a very cool option.
The Firebird is a two-owner car and it came to Canada about 27 years ago.
The second owner preserved the factory integrity of the Firebird so it’s a very stock-looking car but there’s a surprise under the hood—the numbers-matching 400 cubic-inch V-8 is still there but it’s a custom-built 400.
Now it has a thumping 480 horsepower on tap so it may look stock but it’s a fire-breathing beast.
Another feature of this Firebird is the paper trail—it’s extensive and it comes with the car.
This car is immaculate underneath and it shows well because the details are taken care of so the hard work is definitely done. It’s also been registered in Alberta so that eliminates another step.
The Firebird is a no-reserve car so it will definitely be heading to a new home on July 27th—make sure you are a bidder on this classic because this car is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Check out the Michener-Allen website for all the details on this and all their auctions.
2018 FEATURE CAR—THIS MONSTER ’69 CHARGER
The 2nd Generation Chargers are widely seen as one of the most iconic muscle cars ever built. They looked fast from the factory and this ’69 Charger not only looks fast—it is fast. This classic Mopar is the end result of a very dedicated father-son build team.
This car started out as a very straight, well preserved base model Charger but now it runs on the edge of a resto-mod with a distinctive RT flair thanks to its tribute stripe and other badges.
This ’69 Charger packs a big block 500 cubic inch Indy wedge under the hood that pumps out 600 horsepower. It has a FAST fuel injection system that was designed specifically for this high performance big block because the cam is not exactly stock.
There’s a Viper 6-speed with a pistol grip to handle all that brute force plus the car runs 1800 rpm at highway speeds (or better)—even with a 3:73 rear end.
The Charger retains the basics of the stock suspension but it has some serious upgrades. They wanted to take the car to a higher level but not “so far it’s not reversible” so it has Stainless Steel front disc brakes, heavy duty Hotchkiss sway bars and an 8 ¾ Detroit Locker rear end.
There are Coys C-5 wheels as part of the package to give the Charger a Fast and Furious look. This is also a triple black car and the interior has been completely redone plus the front seats have been upgraded to handle the extra performance and add to the comfort of the driving experience.
This Charger is the perfect combination of a well-planned build that was executed perfectly—it would be a welcome addition to any Mopar garage.

FEATURE CAR: ’65 MUSTANG—THIS IS THE DEFINITION OF LOW MILEAGE AND ORIGINAL
We all have that dream where we buy a low mileage, pristine car from the original owner but in most cases, that’s a long shot—especially if the car is 52 years old.
This 1965 Mustang is that car because it’s only had one owner and it has less than 30,000 documented miles.
It was purchased at Healy Ford in Edmonton, AB Canada and it never saw a day outside. The owner drove it to work and she parked it underground and it went straight into a garage when it arrived home.
The former owners explained more about the history of this incredible survivor. He bought it for his wife back in 1965.
“It was her 1st car and it was her baby—it never left the city. She used to work at Eatons as a company nurse so it was parked underground. The people who worked there really liked her so they’d look out for it when it was parked there.
She really believes in maintenance so everything was looked after on a regular basis. When she took it off the road she parked it in the garage with a cover on it so the car has never seen sun for any length of time.
She started it up regularly and kept the fluids and battery fresh at all times because it was her baby.
I sure hope the next owner looks after it like she did”.
