Most of our readers already know 2024 is a leap year–consequently there will be a February 29th on your calendar. 2024 also marks our 15th anniversary as an online magazine (e-zine) dedicated to the vintage vehicle hobby.
MyStarCollectorCar has grown into one of the biggest vintage vehicle hobby e-zines in Canada over the years and are confident we will continue our growth in the future. We are very excited about our future and invite our readers to enjoy the ride along the way.
It is no secret that we have enjoyed every day since we fired up MyStarCollectorCar back in 2009, but we never lost sight of the fact our e-zine is a business and would like to thank every advertiser who supported us over the past 15 years. They helped us build our brand and grow our footprint in the car hobby.
2024 will be a pivotal year for MyStarCollectorCar because we intend to move forward with a paywall subscription model that will provide continuous access to our daily feature, along with complete access to well over 6000 articles in our archives. We have chronicled some amazing stories over the past 15 years and will continue to add even more to our ever-expanding car guy library.
Paywall subscriptions are a universal concept in today’s world where subscribers can make their own choices and gain unlimited electronic access to their favorite publications.
Most paywall publications avoid the annoying pop-up ads that dominate websites and interfere with the reader’s enjoyment of an article. MyStarCollectorCar has always chosen to avoid pop-up ads for this very reason and will continue to keep them off our pages, so the ads will continue to be subtle, linked banners.
15 years is a long time in the publication business and MyStarCollectorCar has built an enormous legacy of feature articles over that time frame. As mentioned, we have enjoyed every minute of the process and look forward to many more articles in the future.
However, as mentioned, MyStarCollectorCar is also a business, a concept that was never lost on us when we created it 15 years ago after several years of careful planning and before we hit the cyber-world with our online product in 2009.
Our main goal was always a simple one: produce professional grade written content every day of the year-and do it with a consistent tone. Many people considered that goal to be unachievable, given the fact we do almost 100% of the heavy lifting in this department and have only used a handful of other writers for a handful of articles.
For the record, the four other writers were highly creative human beings (2 novelists, a car magazine editor, and an op-ed writer/car guy gifted with a razor-sharp sense of humor) and we were honored to include them on our pages.
However, well over 99% of the articles have been written by identical twins (us) so we were able to achieve a high level of consistency in terms of overall style and tone. Fortunately, our written content duties are the most enjoyable part of the job here at MyStarCollectorCar and will continue to be our favorite task in the future. Yet another reason why we have no interest in AI-generated written content created by a soulless computer program with no skin in the car hobby.
MyStarCollectorCar will move to the paywall model very soon and invite our readers to gain complete access to our daily feature articles, along with our massive archive of over 6000 articles that showcase our written content for the first 15 years.
