The rat rod is—by definition and design—a punch-you-in-the-face vehicle to drive.

Nobody builds a rat rod to go a cross-country tour because you’d have to be tougher than Chuck Norris to run 1000 miles a day in one.

That’s why you rarely see a rattie on the highway, but you do seem them on city streets.
