The High River (Brian Chipchase Memorial) Show and Shine is a spectacular way to end the car show season.
The whole town is car-friendly, and it shows in the details because this event could be filed under Car Show Management 101.
You can find everything at High River—including an autographed replica of the Andy Griffith TV show’s ’63 Ford police car.
That kind of variety meant there was an embarrassment of riches at High River, so finding owner’s stories was like finding enough to eat at a major buffet.
The first story I found was a 1960 DeSoto.
I admit—I’m a huge fan of these late era Exner fin cars cars because they are Space Age cool and they’re very rare. This one was a blend between survivor and stuff-to-do-later because the DeSoto needed a few small things, but it was definitely a driver. Look for its biography on MyStar next spring.
I also found a one-owner 1976 Dodge pickup.
This truck was interesting because it lived two lives under the same owner. It was originally a two-wheel drive from the factory, but years later it became a four-wheel drive with a ’77 grille. Find out why and how in April or May 2025 on MyStar.
The next car I found was a 1968 Acadian.
This Canadian-only car was a monster because of what was under the hood. It also handles like a 2005 Vette thanks to some cool modifications—you’ll see this story on MyStar in the first four months of 2025.
I found another beast in the form of a 1968 Charger.
This car was done over a 30-year period for many reasons, but the net result is a Mopar with horsepower numbers that makes a Hellcat’s horsepower look reasonable. You’ll see the MyStar story next year in the first half of 2025.
The last car I found was a 1981 Trans Am Daytona 500 Pace Car Edition.
These are extremely rare cars and the young guy who owned it was born years after it was built–but he knew his stuff. It’s in the right hands—look for the details in the first months of 2025.
Jim found a 1963 ½ Mercury Marauder S55.
NASCAR fans will know why Ford built these beauties, but if you don’t, you’ll learn everything about it on MyStar next year. It’ll be worth the wait—these are incredibly cool cars.
Jim also spotted a 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak at High River.
It was stored for years and brought back into the sunlight by the current owner. You’ll get all the facts on this classic Poncho in 2025 on MyStar.
There was a 1962 Dodge Dart convertible at the show and Jim took that story too.
This car was a rock star because it’s one of those you-never-see-them-anymore cars plus it was a monster Max Wedge tribute. It was a MyStar story waiting to be told—well worth reading. You’ll read about it in ’25.
There was another great story in the form of a 1959 Prefect.
This car story had many moving parts, but the best part is the owner is still in junior high and he’s 14-years-old. Jim was happy to get this story because the cars was cool, but the back story was even cooler. It’s going to be a welcome addition to MyStar’s 2025 story roster.
Jim also found a 1950 Chevy Deluxe Fleetline at High River.
File this car under resto-mod because it was built to drive in today’s traffic. It has the power and the suspension to outhandle anything short of a new Mustang. This is another long-term project story—you’ll want to read about it on MyStar in 2025.
Jim left two stories on the table.
The first was a 1967 Dodge D-100 pickup with a Gen 3 hemi under the hood.
This truck was spectacular—so spectacular Jim forgot he took the Dodge’s story ten years ago. In all fairness, the truck was painted and detailed to a much higher level ten years later.
The other car was a VW Beetle.
This wasn’t an ordinary Beetle—it had a turbo V-6 or V-8 at the front. That’s the kind of thinking that makes it MyStar owner’s story material. Jim’s hoping to connect with the owner.
