SUNDAY IN MARKERVILLE 2025

Markerville, Alberta Canada is what you expect to see when you think of Hollywood’s version of a quiet, friendly village.

This is the heart of dairy country, so there’s a museum based in the original 1930s era Markerville Creamery.

I’ve been going to this event for years, and it’s always been a popular show for the local car guys. In its early days, it was a social event for them, so it had a hardcore group of guys who showed up every year.

That’s changed in the last few years because the Markerville show has grown into a very popular event, so the organizers have had to open up the road into town for more entries.

There’s a casual attitude in Markerville and this show reflects that mood because everybody is in a good mood.

I found a couple of solid owner’s stories in Markerville.

The first one was a 1992 Camaro 1LE Z-28 with a solid racing history. It was one of very few ’92 Camaros built for the GM Motorsport Series in Canada.

They had a toned-down version of this car for non-racing use, but this one was on the track (and doing well) back in 1992. You’ll get a real history lesson about these very limited-edition Camaros when MyStar sets up the owner’s story in a few months.

The other story was a well-travelled 1956 Chevy Nomad.

This one has a great biography behind it plus it went to a guy who wanted it for decades. You’ll see this car guy happy ending story next year on the pages of MyStar next year.

Jim spotted a 1970 Plymouth Superbird at the Markerville event.

You might recognize this car from a 2013 MyStarCollectorCar article, but since then it’s been on many road trips—up to and including the high banks of a famous NASCAR suoer speedway.  Which track? You’ll find out in 2026.

Jim also found a ’32 Ford Dearborn Deuce story. This project’s biggest feature is what’s under the hood because the owner was a pioneer in the use of this specific engine. You’ll find out what it is in 2026 when it’s set up as an owner’s story.

Jim has another future MyStar owner’s story on the horizon. It’s a 1957 Chevy two-door post and its history with the same owner goes back almost 55 years.

This is a car that Jim and I both remember from the high school days, so I’m amazed the same guy owns it. It’s also the same car that made me a ’57 Chevy two-door post fan for life.

Markerville came through again because they had everything going for them. A fleet of cool cars all over the place, great weather, great ice cream, friendly people, and a postcard setting.

They’re also off the beaten path so you get there down less-travelled, paved country roads.  Basically. Markerville is a great excuse for a cool Sunday drive.
