ULTIMATE CAR SHOW 2025—THE LINEUP SAID IT ALL

Car shows with massive traffic jams are lucky, because those lineups tell a tale of success.

If you measure an event by that yardstick, The Ultimate Car Show in Westaskiwin, Alberta Canada was a major success.

I found a one-family 1971 Lincoln MK III at the show.

This car has a mere 87,000 miles on it, plus it’s never seen a winter. The purchase price was close to the price of an average house in ’71 so it is an incredible, full-load, 70s tech car with a great story behind it.

I found another Lincoln at the show.

This one was a 1976 Town Car, and it had a mere 20,000 miles on the clock. That’s an amazing number, and it’s all because this is a one-owner car. Another fantastic story you’ll see later in 2025.

I also a located 1961 Ford Fairlane 500 two-door sedan with another solid story.

This was one of those mid-project stories that makes the next owner push it over the goal line. It was worth it—you never see these cars. The Fairlane will be a feature owner’s story later this year on MyStar.

I saw another ’61 Ford at the Ultimate Car Show.

This time it was a 1961 F-100 unibody pickup. The key to this story was its deep connection to a family truck from the past. The old truck’s owner told a good story and MyStar will have it in 2025.

I didn’t get the story behind a ’68 Fairlane GT, but with any luck I will.

The owner has had it since he was 16, so this Fairlane is another great potential story to  tell—if I can track down the owner.

Jim found a 1978 Citroen 2CV with a story of mega-road trips in its biography.

The owners are young-at-heart and fearless adventurers, so this little car has seen some serious miles. It’s another fantastic future road warrior story for MyStar.

There was a beastly 1964 Plymouth Belvedere at Wetaskiwin.

Fortunately, Jim found the owner and learned more about this incredibly nasty Mopar. You’ll learn more about this classic Plymouth when it becomes an owner’s story later this year.

Jim tracked down another road warrior in the form of a 1960 Chevy 4-door sedan.

You won’t believe what parts of the far-flung world this car has seen—it’s more than a car story—it’s a pure adventure story. Look for it soon on MyStarCollectorCar.

Jim also spotted a 1956 Messerschmitt KR200 at this event.

Needless to say, this is the first Messerschmidt KR200 story ever done on MyStar—but it will be a welcome addition in a few months.

I measure car shows by organization and variety—this event rates high on both scales. They don’t lock in on decades or manufacturers, so Reynolds gives you a history lesson that spans decades and oceans.

I like that because the car hobby is about more than a few decades or builders—it’s about learning–this show comes through in a big way.
