Red Deer Cruise Night is celebrating 25 years in 2026 and they want to start the party (weather permitting) on May 14th.
Red Deer, Alberta Canada has a massive car culture, so the roots of this event go beyond 25 years to the Red Deer Cruisers.
The Cruisers core group had guys like Gary and Curtis Johnson, Bob Just, Dave Lychuk and their president Owen Brown.
They met every week at Willys Hamburgers–an old school drive-in restaurant on the south side of Red Deer.
The club also hosted annual car shows at the Bower Mall.
Red Deer Cruise Night picked up the ball and started hosting weekly shows in 2001 in downtown Red Deer.
‘Challey Dave’ Burden was one of the founders and he is still running these events 25 years later.
Red Deer Cruise Night became so successful they’ve had to move venues several times over the years because they draw so many people.
Anyone who has organized a car show knows how much work is required to host an event and Red Deer’s weekly event routinely draws in several hundred vehicles and thousands of spectators.
Dave and his dedicated group of volunteers thrive on the challenge–that’s why they are celebrating a 25th anniversary.
Check out the rest of the highlights from an event with roots that go back to the early 1990s.
