The dawn of the Square Body Chevy truck occurred in 1973, but the legendary GM pickup style was still going strong in 1977.
Winston Bierworth is the proud owner of a 1977 Chevy short box pickup that Winston bought because he had fond memories of his first Square Body Chevy truck, a vehicle he bought brand-new many years ago from a GM dealership.

Winston’s search for another Square Body ended 11 years ago when he bought his ’77 Chevy Cheyenne C-10 short box and fulfilled his dream to once again own one. His truck is in remarkable condition and looks like it just left a GM dealership.
Winston purchased the truck when he was still in the farming business, although it was spared the rigors of hard work during its time on Winston’s farm. The only real issue: Winston’s farm was a short distance off pavement, so he had to take it easy on that portion of the drive.
After he sold the farm, Winston moved to a nearby town and kept the truck because Winston was not about to get rid of another classic Chevy Square Body. The move to town may have shortened Winston’s driving distances but he decided to keep it after he went from a rural resident to a townie.
We at MyStarCollectorCar understand why Winston chose to keep his ’77 Chevy short box because his truck only has 59,000 original miles (roughly 96,000 kms) on its odometer and underwent a careful restoration process. More importantly, Winston wanted to keep the truck of his dreams after he let his first one get away all those years ago.
The main component of the restoration was the paint job because it is flawless and is a perfect match for the ’77 Chevy truck’s original paint scheme. Winston added that his truck still has its original interior, and it is still in remarkable condition.
The Chevy Cheyenne C-10 is loaded with factory creature comforts, including power steering, power brakes (front disc/rear drum), and air conditioning to make any road trip in the truck more comfortable for its occupants.
The truck still has its original 305 cubic inch small block engine coupled to its factory Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission. The Cheyenne’s powertrain is a reliable performer for Winston whenever he takes an opportunity to get behind the wheel and drive it.
The remarkable mechanical condition of the 48-year-old pickup is not lost on Winston because he said: “It goes down the highway great and is a solid truck”, in his words. The visual appeal of the stylish 1977 Chevy Cheyenne ½-ton is not lost on the public because “lots of people love it”, according to Winston and his experiences with it.
One of the few additions to the Chevy truck is a tool chest behind the cab in the bed. Winston’s life as a farmer undoubtedly influenced his decision to be prepared in case of a mechanical issue-or just for extra storage if required.
MyStarCollectorCar will leave the final comment about his truck to Winston.
What more could a person want than a 1977 Chevy pickup?
