JUNE 24 STAR OF THE DAY-A 1964 MERC GETS A DAY IN THE SUN Stars of the Day can come from anywhere-this isn’t the exclusive domain of the trailer queen. This 64 Merc is a great example of that philosophy. At one time in 1964 it was a trailer queen, then it was unloaded at a Ford dealer and finally somebody bought this Mercury and made it their pride and joy After that, the real world beckoned for this car-flash forward to the 21st Century and this is where the Merc was finally parked. Now it gets a final day in the sun as an MSCC Star of the Day. js
JUNE 23 STAR OF THE DAY 1964 AMPHICAR-THE ULTIMATE SOLUTION TO THE BOAT VS. CAR DEBATE
Most of the world doesn’t live in Venice Italy but if you did, nothing would make more sense than an Amphicar. This little runabout combined the best of land and sea and since then there hasn’t been much competition in the amphibious car world. That alone wraps up the nomination for Star of the Day plus these cars are so cool to see at any show. js
JUNE 22 CLASSIC CHEVY STREET ROD-THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY
This picture was taken a few years ago under the assumption that I’d see this truck again. He was in a hurry and I didn’t have a notebook so the story remains on the books. The story had promise because he used this truck for work and pleasure. He was very matter of fact about how unique and appealing this rod was to car guys. I never saw this Chevy again so reluctantly I have to make this classic rod Star of the Day instead of a great feature story. Either way it gets a well deserved day in the sun. js
JUNE 21 STAR OF THE DAY-TURNING A CLASSIC 1960s CADDY INTO A CAMPER
What better way to celebrate the 1st day of summer than to look at a unique vacation-mobile? A bold vision for the final product would be a good description for this Star of the Day. It just takes one guy to see the merit in a 1960s Cadillac camper conversion. Why he would want to sell this work of art is beyond explanation but it was seen at a major auction this year. Ladies and Gentlemen…your Star of the Day for the 1st day of summer. js
JUNE 20 STAR OF THE DAY-A 1947 DODGE COMES TO A HALT ON A ROAD TRIP This was a beautiful example of a survivor car-a low mileage unrestored 1947 Dodge. It ran like a top until the 80+ degree day and subsequent vapor lock got the better of the flathead 6 cylinder under the hood. The road trip ended on the hook of a tow truck but it didn’t diminish a great experience with a 62 year old car that day back in 2009. That made it a Star of the Day. js
JUNE 20 STAR OF THE DAY-VANCOUVER’S HOTTEST CARS
Normally the Star of the Day isn’t a new BMW but thanks to the custom paint and body work courtesy of IQ deficient, drunk and stupid hockey fans, this German luxury car made the grade. Special runner up Star of the Day honors go to this Vancouver PD Crown Victoria for its supporting role as a punching bag for the same crowd of self-serving baboons with a bad attitude.
Sadly, none of these noveau car customizers were lost during the post-game torch ceremonies so society still faces a grim future with this type of DNA still in circulation.
